At first glance Bruce Dickson comes across as a good looking guy with a nice smile, but the more you get to know him you realize he is an amazing young man with a great voice and an even better personality. 

Background - 

Bruce was born February 17, 1988 and he is the second oldest of six children.  He has been singing from the ripe old age of 6 when his mom, Voni Dickson, put boots and a cowboy hat on him and got him singing on stage.  He has loved singing and performing ever since.  Bruce grew up in Dixon, CA and graduated from Vacaville Christian High School in 2006. He and his family moved to Bastrop, TX in the summer of 2006.  

American Idol - 

Bruce tried out for American Idol Season 7.  He had his first audition at Dallas Stadium in Texas, along with approximately 15,000 other Idol hopefuls.  He made it through round 1 at the stadium, as well as the next two rounds in front of the American Idol producers.  Unfortunately, Simon, Paula, and Randy were not impressed enough to pass him through to Hollywood.  It's hard to say if they were truly saying "no" to him as a singer, or if they just didn't agree with his beliefs.  

Not making it to Hollywood has not discouraged Bruce.  He has received a lot of support from family, friends, and fans alike.  He plans to continue working on his voice, singing wherever and whenever he can, and work on the songs he is writing.

Stand on Purity -

Bruce has made a decision to save himself for,
and commit to, that one special woman that's out there for him.  He decided to not only draw the line at saving sex until marriage, but everything - even his first kiss.  He knew it wouldn't be easy so he has his dad, Mike Dickson, help keep him accountable. The key he wears on a chain around his neck as a reminder.  It's nothing that's been forced upon him, it's a personal choice he has made as a way to honor his future wife.
